Jetski Poker Run 2011 - Clayton NY Lions Club


Clayton Lions Club Jetski Poker Run

The second annual Clayton Lions Club Jetski Poker Run will be held on July 16, 2011. The event is a fundraiser to support the Lions Club’s child eye disease detection program and other community projects.

The poker run is held in Clayton, New York on the majestic St. Lawrence River. This year it will be hosted at the world famous Antique Boat Museum at 270 Mary Street in Clayton. The event is sponsored by Caprara Brothers Honda of Watertown. Co-sponsors are Watertown Savings Bank, Community Savings Bank NA, the Clipper Inn of Clayton and Mild to Wild Automotive LLC of Orange, Connecticut.

The run is comprised of five card pick-up points stretched over the 35 to 40 mile course on the St. Lawrence. People may register in advance to ensure a spot by sending a completed registration form and a check payable to

Clayton NY Lions Club Bass Tournament Rules and Regulations

Interpretation of rules is left exclusively to Tournament Director(s).  Decisions of Tournament Director(s) is not subject to appeal.

Participation is open to teams of any two people.

All live wells will be checked prior to the tournament.

Any person entering the tournament under age of 18 must have the signature of a Parent or Legal Guardian in the space provided on the entry form.

A brief pre-tournament Angers Meeting will be held before 6:00 a.m. on Tournament Day.

Boats ae released from French Creek Marina stsarting at 6:00 a.m. on Tournament Day.  Boats are released in the order in which registrations are recieved.  All boats must return to French Creek Marina no later than 3:30 p.m. to avoid late return penalty.

Safe boating must be observed at all times.  Each contestant must wear a fastened U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PFD) whenever the boat engine is in operation from boat check to weigh-in.  We strongly encourage anglers to wear their PFD at all times.

Participants mus have a valid New York State fishing license.  Participants who choose to fish Canadian waters must also possess a valid Ontario fishing license.  Anglers entering Canadian waters are responsible for abiding with all applicable Immigration regulations.  The Clayton NY Lions Club recommends anglers use navigation charts.

The Clayton NY Lions Club, tournament sponsors and anyone directly or indirectly associated with the tournament are in no way responsible for any injury or accident to person or equipment.  At the discretion of the Tournament Director the tournament may be rescheduled or shortened due to unsafe weather or water conditions.

Contestants are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation and to conduct themselves in a manner that will be a credit to themselves, sponsors and the Clayton NY Lions Club.  Examples of conduct not complying with those standards include but are not limited to the following expamples:
  1. Consumption or possession of alcholic beverages or any kind of mind-altering substance during registration, the pre-tournament meeting or during tournament hours extending through weigh-in.
  2.  Any words, conduct or action reflecting unfavorably upon the efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, fair competion and compliance with Tournament Rules are prohibited.
  3. In case of any conduct not complying with the standards of the Tournament Director(s) the Director(s) shall have the right to disqualify a contestant.
All bass must be caught in a conventional sporting manner.  Only artrificial lures may be used, with the exception of

2011 Clayton NY Lions Open Team Bass Tournament Announcement

Clayton NY Lions Club sponsors its 8th Annual Bass Tournament on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at French Creek Marina on the St. Lawrence River in the 1000 Islands region.
Boats are limited to two anglers each but anglers choose their fishing partner.  Tournament limited to the first 40 boats.  Catch & release tournament, best 5 bass per boat.
Entry fee: $85 per boat.  80% of entry fees returned as cash prizes.  We pay the top 25% of the field.  Optional Big Bass Pot: $10 per boat.  Biggest bass takes 100% of the Big Bass Pot.
Boats are released in the order in which registrations are recieved.  Fishing is from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
Fishing waters are the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario.

Clayton Lions Club sponsors this tournament as a community event which promotes tourism in the 1000 Islands and Clayton NY.  It is a family oriented event with many father-son (or daughter), husband-wife, grandparent-grandchild teams.  We usually have a number of good door prizes and refreshments at weigh-in.  All Lions Club profits from the tournament help fund Lions charity projects including scholarships, help to the visually impaired and other community programs.   This is a good time tournament and we hope to see you there!

Lions Roar May 2011


Annual Membership Dues for 2011 – 2012 are due by May 31.

Dues are $65 if paid in May. Couples pay $65 for one and $45.50 for spouse. Dues will be $70 if paid in June. Couples would pay $70 for one and $45.50 for spouse if paid in June. Dues must be paid by June 30th. Please contact Lion George at 686 5268 if you have any questions about this year’s dues. Thank you for your cooperation in this.

Education Night is Monday, May 9th at C-Way Restaurant. Thanks to Lion Cab Burns for organizing this year’s event. Dinner will cost $12. Our keynote speaker is Don Alexander, CEO of Jefferson County Job Development Corporation. Over 40 Thousand Islands scholars will be honored. This is our big annual scholarship event and it is important to have a good turnout of Clayton Lions. Please plan to attend, and bring your spouse or a friend. Education Night takes the place of our first regular meeting for May.
