Summer 2012 Events

Our summer events are fast approaching:
  • June 9 is our first Trash and Treasures Sale at the Lions Building on Webb St. in Clayton.  Come early to get the best items.
  • June 23 is the Bass Tournament.  We are partnering with the New York Chapter of the Bass Federation. They are having an open tournament the next day. These are held at the French Creek Marina, Wahl St. Clayton, NY  For the most complete information and to download a copy of the registration form go to www.nytbf.com. Click on TOURNAMENTS, then OPEN TOURNAMENTS.  You can also download a copy here by clicking on the BASS tab above. You will need to copy and paste, or print the whole page.
  • July 14 we are having our 3rd Annual Personal Watercraft Poker Run. We have a special website for this event at www.claytonlionspwcpokerrun.com. You can read the rules and regulations and other particulars, and download a registration form. If you want to go directly to the registration form, click on the POKER RUN tab above.
  • August 18 will be our second Trash and Treasues Sale.
  • The Fall Spaghetti Dinner will be in September.  More to come about that.
We had a great Spaghetti Dinner this past April.  We served more dinners than in recent years, which improved our coffers.  Of course, that means more benefits for local people and organizations. After all, we are here 'To Serve', and bigger coffers help us do that. We thank the good people of Clayton, NY, and the students and advisors of the FIRST Robotics Team from Thousand Islands High School.

Lion Kathy with Mr. Freitag, teacher-advisor for the TIHS Robotics Team, in the kitchen.  Doesn't that spaghetti look delicious?

Lion Jim and Lion Phil prepare salads, almost 300 salads actually.
Lions Clarence, Tom and Jim pose with a helpful TIHS student member of the Robotics Team.

Lion Tom and Lion Cab are ready to welcome the next customers.

Lions Roar - April 2012

Greetings! After a winter hiatus, the Lions Roar newsletter is back on line! Hope everyone had a good winter and were all looking forward to an active 2012 Lions year. We have some news and events to pass along.

Meetings: At the Thousand Island Land Trust office, behind Raks on Riverside Dr. All meetings start at 6:30 pm.
The next April regular meeting is Monday April 23rd.
May meetings are Monday May 7th, Board Meeting and Monday May 14th (Education Night, details in next newsletter).

Our International Night meeting was a great success. Exact numbers arent in but it appears this was the best attended International Night ever with approximately 135 Lions in attendance from clubs around New York State and Ontario. Thanks to King Lion Tim for the many hours he devoted to organizing the event and the Clayton Lions who helped make International Night successful.

Spaghetti Dinner is just around the corner. Mark your calendar to be there on Friday, April 27th. Attached is the work roster and we should have plenty of student help from TICS. We need everyone to pitch in at Spaghetti Dinner. Kitchen and clean-up are areas we especially will need help.

Dues are due in May. We are trying to hold the line on dues. If you pay during May, membership is $65. If you pay after May 31, dues are $70. We have no alternative but to drop anyone who has not made arrangements to pay their dues by June 30.

Slate of Officers. We need to come up with next years officers and Board of Directors in May. Our club would benefit from new personnel for officers and Board members. Please think about going the extra distance to help your club by becoming an officer or Board member. It is interesting, fun and not too time consuming. Current officers may be contacting you to ask if you can help govern the club next year.
